I am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta (#5049), and a Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia (#16709). I am briefly returning to Calgary in 2021 to add competencies in administering formal assessments under supervision, in order to support my application for registration with the College of Psychologists of BC.
My training and interests have an integrative and person-centered approach, with a foundation in the science of the brain and nervous system, and how these effect emotion, behaviour and how we attach and bond to others. I believe this approach is helpful in creating a safe and therapeutic environment for you, whatever your background, beliefs, or experience happens to be. I have specialized training in the following modalities: EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Levels 1 & 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
My background includes an MA in Counselling Psychology from Providence Theological Seminary, an MA in Theology and History from the University of St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts from Ambrose University. In addition, I completed a practicum at Karunia Counselling Services in Leduc, Alberta, provided training to lay counsellors and psychologists in Rwanda, taught English in South Korea, and served as an adjunct professor at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Before moving to Cranbrook in 2018, I worked at Journey Counselling and the Canadian Mental Health Association in Calgary.
I like to spend my free time with my wife, dog, friends and family, playing music and adventuring in the mountains.
